What is the best way to use Dowsil 785+?

Preparation of the surface: Sealing surfaces should be free of dirt, moisture and grease. Ensure the area is thoroughly dried with a lint-free, oil-free cloth before sealing. Any time you use a solvent, be sure to ventilate properly.

Masking: Joint-adjacent areas need to be taped off to prevent contamination and ensure the sealant line is neat. It is important to remove the masking tape as soon as possible after the tooling is complete.

Priming: Most glazed surfaces do not require a primer, such as porcelain, ceramic and glazed. Meanwhile, adhesion tests are recommended for acrylic baths.

Finishing: Tooling should be performed after applying the sealant to ensure good sealant-substrate contact and a professional appearance.

Clean-up: Remove excess sealant from non-porous surfaces and tools before it cures. When the sealant is mistakenly applied to porous substrates, the sealant should be left to cure and removed after curing by scraping, peeling or cutting.

Is Dowsil 785+ solvent-free?

Yes, this silicone sealant is classified as solvent-free as it has a solvent content of less than 5%. This means that Dowsil 785+ is water-based.
